The 25th Annual NH Pumpkin Festival Comes to Laconia This Year!

Pumpkin Fest 2015The Keene Pumpkin Festival has a new home starting this year. In the heart of New Hampshire, Laconia has opened its doors and is proud to be hosting the famous annual event, now called Pumpkin Festival 2015, and this year is its 25th Anniversary! Come to the Lakes Region to see thousands of lit jack-o-lanterns on the spectacular signature pumpkin tower as well as on the streets around town!

The Let it Shine Annual Pumpkin Festival will take place in Downtown Laconia Saturday, October 24th from 10am – 8:30 pm. The signature 35’ tower is the centerpiece of Pumpkin Festival 2015, and with nearly 1,000 reservations for pumpkins, the tower will be a full pyramid of twinkling jack-o-lanterns! Streets will be lined with pumpkins and pumpkin spectators, for smooth strolling and the best viewing – unfettered by vendor booths and queues, as the Food & Craft courts will be at the City Hall lot on Beacon Street East and the Farmers’ Market Area on Main Street. At these locations, visitors can enjoy delicious food and plenty of pumpkin-inspired treats prepared by local non-profit organizations as well as professional vendors. In addition to food offerings, the Food & Craft Court includes over 30 artisans offering crafts from glassware to fudge!

As part of the 2015 Pumpkin Festival, The Runaway Pumpkin 10k & 5k Run/Walk will take place at 9am on Saturday. Walkers as well as serious runners will have their choice of distances along this scenic course, which includes the WOW Trail (WOW is an acronym for the three lakes along the old rail trail, Winnipesaukee, Opechee, and Winnisquam). Previously this event was called the WOW Fest and was held in September, but this year the WOW Fest has joined the festivities of Pumpkin Festival 2015.

The Pumpkin Festival will also include a Children’s Costume Parade starting at 12:30pm. The parade will loop through Downtown Laconia, and children of all ages decked out in Halloween costumes can participate! After many years of organizers dreaming about it, Cinderella’s pumpkin coach from Story Land will lead the parade. There will be other fun surprises, too!

The Pumpkin Festival 2015, Laconia, NH, under the organization of Let it Shine, is officially registered with Guinness as a World Record Attempt. Registration is required to vie for the Guinness World Record for the most lit jack-o’-lanterns in one place—a record recaptured from Boston by Keene in 2013 (30,581). Let’s all be there when the festival breaks that record this year!
