Sacred Waters Yoga to Offer Fun Dance Classes for Beginners

Wedding danceSpring is here! It’s time to come out of hibernation and dust off your dancing shoes to celebrate! Wedding season is also right around the corner, and for those who wish to learn some new moves or brush up on their dance skills, Sacred Waters Yoga at Mill Falls is offering three new series of classes that will shake off the cold of winter and warm you up from inside!

Starting this coming Wednesday, March 26th, seasoned dance instructor Juli Pruden will be at Sacred Waters Yoga to lead beginner classes in Latin Dance, Ballroom Dance, and Blues Dance…

The Beginner Latin Dance series runs Wednesdays, March 26th – April 30th from 6 – 7pm and will introduce basic bronze patterns in Rumba, Cha Cha, Salsa, and Tango. The class is suitable for all beginners, and is also an ideal complement for those who have already taken a beginner ballroom class. Come spice up your life!

The Beginner Ballroom Dance series runs Wednesdays, March 26th – April 30th from 7 – 8pm and will give new dancers the poise and confidence to get out on a dance floor with the basics in Foxtrot, Waltz, and East Coast Swing, as well as the partnership skills to make them look and feel good!

The Beginner Blues Dance series runs Wednesdays, March 26th – April 30th from 8 – 9pm and will help folks shed those winter blues by turning them into groovy moves on the dance floor. Blues dancing is great fun, improvisational, and really lets you build leading and following skills. If you love blues music, both vintage and modern, you don’t want to miss this class!

The cost for each course is $99 per couple or $55 per single, and registration is required. Please preregister online by Friday, March 21st or call Sacred Waters Yoga at 603-279-3243 if after this date.

Juli Pruden has been an instructor of Ballroom, Latin, and Swing Dance since 1999. She began teacher training at Portsmouth Ballroom in 1998, supervised by Mandy Ball, current examiner for the U.S. Imperial Society of Teachers of Dance for the East Coast. Juli also participated in Mandy’s Technique Class for Advanced Dancers at Maine Ballroom. She has received training from well-known figures in the Ballroom, Latin, and Swing realms, including Nick Kosovich of Dancing With the Stars, Darren Bennett and Lilia Kopylova of Strictly Come Dancing, as well as other national and international champions. Juli continues to attend dance and training events to keep her teaching fresh and imbued with best practices.

In the fall of 2006, Juli began building the dance community for the Newfound Lake Region at the Tapply-Thompson Community Center, and she is delighted to now be extending her teaching to the Greater Lakes Region.

Juli came to dancing reluctantly, so she knows how difficult it can be to get started. Once she began, however, she fell in love, and her enthusiasm and enjoyment for what she’s doing shine through her instruction. Her teaching philosophy is to make dancing fun and easy by relating it to things her students already know while incorporating humor into the lessons. Juli’s teaching has inspired many former wallflowers to get out on the floor and enjoy themselves. Juli says her students also benefit by meeting new people, getting exercise that doesn’t feel like work, and building confidence and poise.
