Great Family Entertainment in the Lakes Region this Weekend

Whether it’s going out to soak up nature,  shopping together, or going out to the theater, spend some down time with family this weekend just enjoying each other. That’s what the season is all about. If you’re in the mood for some great entertainment, here are just a few shows that will leave everyone in the holiday spirit…

Free Family Movie: It’s A Wonderful Life – Friday, December 19th, 7pm – Enjoy this classic holiday film at The Flying Monkey Movie House and Performance Center in Plymouth, NH, where George Bailey (Jimmy Stewart) is shown just how much he truly means to his family and the rest of Bedford Falls. Directed by Frank Capra and based off the short story “The Greatest Gift” written by Philip Van Doren Stern. Admission is free as part of the Free Holiday Movie Series with Expanded Concessions, including hot dogs, sandwiches, fresh popcorn with variety of flavorings, Common Man candy, beer, wine, and other terrific offerings! Aladdin in Traditional English Panto – Friday, December 19th, 7pm, and Saturday December 20th, 2pm and 7pm – Try something different at the Winnipesaukee Playhouse in Meredith, NH this weekend. The Winnipesaukee Playhouse Professional Company presents a new, original production of Aladdin, presented in the style of a traditional English Panto. What’s a Panto? Well, it’s a really fun, really zany show complete with mysterious magic, silly slapstick, sensational songs and dynamic dance. The Nutcracker – Northeastern Ballet Theatre – Saturday, December 20th, 7pm, and Sunday, December 21st, 2pm, at Anderson Hall, Brewster Academy in Wolfeboro – Don’t miss this holiday classic! Northeastern Ballet Theatre’s professional production of The Nutcracker under the artistic direction of Edra Toth will be the highlight of your holiday season! Exquisite dancing, costumes, and choreography are all part of this spectacular dance performance. The Nutcracker is the perfect family outing that will capture the hearts of both young and old! This year’s production is tailored with our little ‘sweets’ in mind, and is a special one-hour performance. Join Clara on her magical journey through an enchanted winter wonderland to a palace of sugary confections and magical friends. This lighthearted rendition of the beloved Tchaikovsky classic is sure to delight both the young and young at heart. Blending the talents of local professional, youth, and community dancers from throughout the White Mountains and Lakes Regions, this is a charming dance and musical production that is sure to keep all ages engaged and entertained. Fairy wings, crowns, gowns, and tiaras are encouraged for our littlest guests to wear! The matinee show starts at 2pm with sandwiches, healthy snacks, and expanded concessions available, and the evening show starts at 6:30 after the 5pm dinner service with children’s menu.
