Celebrate Independence Day All Weekend at the Lake!

Summer is officially here! And for the quintessential summer experience, the Lakes Region of New Hampshire will be the place to be this weekend, with many traditional Fourth of July activities lined up. Independence Day in New England can’t be beat! Here are a few things happening around Lake Winnipesaukee…

4th OF JULY CRAFT FAIR – Saturday and Sunday, July 2-3 – Gunstock Mountain Resort, Gilford – Celebrate the birth of America with American-made arts & crafts at this fantastic fair with over 100 exhibitors showing a variety of art forms, including fine jewelry, wearable art, wooden crafts, quilts and quilted home decor, gourmet foods, glass art, floral arrangements, and much more! Vendors will be set up both outside and inside in air-conditioned comfort. Guests will enjoy the beauty of Gunstock Mountain Resort and the entertainment at Adventure Park, with free admission as well as free parking. THE FOURTH ON THE FARM –Saturday, July 2– New Hampshire Farm Museum, Milton – This annual celebration includes homemade strawberry shortcake with fresh strawberries, patriotic music, a reading of the Declaration of Independence, living history farmhouse tours, musket firing demonstrations, croquet and other old-fashioned games, and much more. 26th ANNUAL RUBBER DUCKIE RACE – Monday, July 4 – Meredith Village – The Meredith Lions Club will kick off the holiday with a splash for its 26th Annual Rubber Duckie Race. This event is not to be missed! It is the organization’s biggest fundraiser of the year, benefiting many local charities, including scholarships for local students. At 4pm on Monday the 4th, over 4,000 yellow rubber ducks will tumble down the waterfall at the Mill Falls Marketplace and float to the finish line just past the footbridge in Hesky Park. Spectators can sponsor their own ducks in the race for $5 for one duck or $20 for 5 ducks. Ticket sales end on race day at the park at 3:30pm. The grand-prize winner will take home $1000, and there are four other top cash prizes, followed by 23 prizes donated by local restaurants and merchants. The duck race is truly an amazing sight! ANNUAL 4th OF JULY PARADE – Monday, July 4 – Wolfeboro – Starting at 10am, one of the biggest parades in New Hampshire will wind its way through the beautiful village of Wolfeboro for the Annual 4th of July Parade. FIREWORKS PARTY CRUISE – Monday, July 4 – M/S Mount Washington, Weirs Beach – The annual July 4th Fireworks Party Cruise is a great way to see the many fireworks displays that light up Lake Winnipesaukee, from small island firecrackers to the bigger town shows! This patriotically festive cruise on Monday, July 4 features a delicious dinner buffet, live entertainment provided by well-known local favorite Annie and the Orphans Band, and a scenic three-hour cruise. Tickets are $55 per person, and guests under 21 are welcome but must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. The ship departs Weirs Beach at 7pm and returns around 10pm. MEREDITH FIREWORKS DISPLAY – Monday, July 4 – Meredith – In the evening, bring your blankets and lawn chairs over to Hesky Park on the lakeshore, where NOTEable Sound of Meredith will perform patriotic standards beginning at 8:30pm. Then at dusk, everyone will be looking up as the fireworks begin to light up the night over Meredith Bay, and the sounds of the celebration ring across the lake!
