Summer is the perfect time to leave the car behind and get out for a walk or bike ride! Some of the best places to visit are those where you can park the car and not need it for the rest of your stay. We love towns that are easy to get around, especially by foot, and Meredith is one of the most pedestrian- and bicycle-friendly towns in NH. There are already some great pathways connecting the Village to many beautiful features of the Lakes Region, and now there is another nature trail in the works!

The Lakes Region of NH is getting ready for the event of the season—two fun nights of fabulous food, wine, and music on the shore of Lake Winnipesaukee that will showcase wines from around the world, along with fabulous food from local restaurants—all while raising funds for a local charitable cause. The 11th Annual Charitable Winnipesaukee Wine Festival’s grand tasting event will take place on Thursday, June 23rd in the Winnipesaukee Ballroom at Church Landing in Meredith. Festivities begin at 5:30 pm with auctions for getaways, appetizers from local restaurants, and samples of more than 100 wines, craft beers, and spirits from local, national, and international producers. Hosted by The Common Man Family of Restaurants and The Martignetti Companies of New Hampshire, and sponsored by Meredith Village Savings Bank, this year’s festival will benefit Concord Hospital Payson Center for Cancer Care’s new radiation therapy equipment and technology.

The Lakes Region is well known as a destination for family vacations, storybook weddings, and fishing expeditions of all types. However, less known is that this little pocket of New Hampshire is also ideal for a womens’ trip—a few days away with your besties can do wonders for the soul, any time of year! Here are just a few ideas for fun things to do on your next “girls’ getaway” at the Lake…

Over 30 years ago, in 1985, the original Inn at Mill Falls was added to the newly developed Mill Falls Marketplace, which opened its doors only the year before. This visionary project began the inspiring journey of Mill Falls at the Lake, and has helped transform the sleepy town of Meredith into a revitalized, world-class resort village while maintaining its old New England lakeside character. In that same spirit, the Inn has been undergoing a transformation of its own, with an updated look that keeps its original country inn charm!

Tucked away in the Mill Falls Marketplace since 1989, Giuseppe’s Show Time Pizzeria has been serving up great live music with its award-winning cuisine and festive charm. While this popular ristoranté features well-known local and regional musicians seven nights a week, once a year Guiseppe’s throws...

Once again, the professional staff at Cascade Spa at Mill Falls will be hosting a fun, informative, and inspiring event for its clients and guests, this time to celebrate spring. The Spa’s slogan is “Relax, Renew, and Rejuvenate,” and this upcoming event is in perfect alignment with these tenets, so you can experience the three “R”s for your skin!

INSPIRED_16The professional staff at Cascade Spa at Mill Falls loves to host fun, informative, and inspiring events for its clients and guests, often featuring educators representing the high-quality products that are used in many of their spa services. The next event coming up is no exception, and the staff is particularly excited about an afternoon and evening that’s all about MoroccanOil… INSPIRED by MOROCCANOIL and Cascade Spa will take place on March 10th in the Carriage House at Church Landing. Guests will be able to tap into the minds of Steven and Jemy, MoroccanOil International Trainers, to learn how MoroccanOil products can transform hair and skin using the restorative powers of argan oil.

Now in its third year, “The Walk” promises to be just as fresh and interesting as ever with several new pieces to be chosen for this summer.

Fishing Derby landscapeDespite speculation earlier in the month that Lake Winnipesaukee would not be frozen enough for our usual winter activities, the two most popular events of the season are still happening! The New England Pond Hockey Classic will take place on nearby Lake Waukewan (see last week’s post here), and the surface of Meredith Bay is now freezing over enough to see ice-fishing bob houses popping up as folks gather from all over the country to participate in the much anticipated Great Rotary Fishing Derby!
