01 Apr The Arts Collaborative to Participate in NH Open Doors Weekend
As spring blossoms across New England, folks begin to venture outside and explore the awakening world around them. This is a perfect time to pause and enjoy the beauty that is being created, both in nature and by our talented fellow artists. In that spirit, art galleries, local shops, and restaurants throughout New Hampshire will open their doors and welcome the public next weekend for the annual NH Open Doors Weekend. Here in Meredith, The Arts Collaborative is planning something special for this fun event!
NH Open Doors Weekend will take place on April 9th and 10th, 2016. This is a statewide touring and shopping event that spotlights the hidden gems and extraordinary talents that make New Hampshire such a unique and wonderful place. Visitors can shop for distinctive products made in NH, see demonstrations by artists and craftspeople in their studios, sample fresh products from farmstands and orchards, and enjoy special events and cultural attractions.
At the Arts Collaborative in Meredith, folks can meet several onsite and visiting artists and craftspeople to learn, browse, and watch demonstrations. Visitors may also indulge their creativity with fun, simple hands on activities for all ages. The Arts Collaborative is the Lakes Region’s only arts complex, art teaching studio, gallery, and fine furniture showroom all at one creative campus. For NH Open Doors Weekend, the studio plans to host several local artists, including some who have contributed to the Meredith Sculpture Walk.
Three buildings make up The Arts Collaborative, which artist-blacksmith David Little and teaching artist Heidi Little opened in June 2012. David’s Winnipesaukee Forge occupies one building, where David creates works of art with the theme “Reinterpreting nature in forged metal.” A second building houses Genuine Local, a state-of-the-art commercial kitchen owned and operated by Gavin and Mary MacDonald, culinary artists with a mission to facilitate other culinary artists’ success. The third building contains an upstairs gallery and design showroom, and downstairs artist studio and arts education teaching studios.
From noon to 5pm during Open Doors Weekend, the public will have the opportunity to explore and shop The Arts Collaborative’s gallery and design studio, to create in the teaching studio, to watch arts demonstrations, to meet and learn from the artists, and more.
Dave and Heidi Little are thrilled to participate in NH Open Doors Weekend for the third time. “We’ll be glad to welcome you and we encourage everyone to make a day of it. Come and see us, do the Meredith Sculpture Walk, enjoy a meal, and visit other galleries and art studios in the Lakes Region and all over the state.”
