Lake Winnipesaukee Floating Classroom

The Winnipesaukee Watershed Association is offering lake ecology cruises aboard their new Floating Classroom!  Educational cruises will operate on Tuesdays and Thursdays each week throughout the summer.

The ‘Floating Classroom’ is a fun and informative hands-on lake ecology program for adults, children, students, and summer campers who are interested to know what shapes Lake Winnipesaukee’s natural beauty.  The tour features a 90 minute boat excursion on a pontoon boat, where participants will learn fun and interesting facts about the history, geology, and ecology of the lake, as well as more serious threats and water quality issues facing the lake.  Passengers will have an opportunity to ‘be the scientist’ through collecting water samples, measuring water clarity, and determining what’s living below the surface with our underwater camera.

Tours will depart from the Weirs public docks on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 10am and 1pm. The cost is $20 per adult and $15 per child under 16.   LWWA members receive a 10% discount (must be current in your membership).

Cruises should be booked two days in advance to ensure your seat.  Registrations can be made by completing the ONLINE FORM.

The floating classroom is made possible with funding from the Environmental Education Fund and Nighswander Community Fund of the New Hampshire Charitable Foundation and the Samuel P. Pardoe Foundation.
