Lake Winnipesaukee Floating Classroom

The Lake Winnipesaukee Association (LWA) offers lake ecology cruises aboard their Floating Classroom on Thursdays each week throughout the summer.

The Floating Classroom is a fun and informative hands-on program designed to teach both young and old about lake ecology and the issues threatening Lake Winnipesaukee.

Join us on an adventure into the past as we learn fun and interesting facts about the history, geology, and ecology of the lake. Participants get an opportunity to be the scientist’, measuring water clarity, temperature, and viewing zooplankton collected with a plankton tow.

The 2 hr. tour departs from the Weirs public docks on Thursdays at 10am and 1pm. The cost is $20 per adult and $15 per child under 16.   LWA members receive a 10% discount (must be current in your membership).

Cruises should be booked two days in advance to ensure your seat.  Registrations can be made by completing the ONLINE FORM.

The Floating Classroom is made possible through the generous funding of our sponsors: Anchor Marine Corp., Goodhue and Hawkins Navy Yard, Meredith Village Savings Bank, Sanborn’s Auto, UNH Center for Freshwater Biology, and Wolfeboro Inn/Winnipesaukee Belle.
